We didn’t invent the aperiodic enclosure — we just refined it for the Miata.
The idea has been around for decades: use a carefully damped vent to smooth internal pressure and extend low-end response in places where airspace is limited. In the Miata’s rear tunnel, it finally makes sense. The result is low-frequency depth that feels balanced, not boomy — part of the music, not an afterthought.
Each Tunnel 8 starts as a precision 3D-printed shell, then gets hand-laminated in fiberglass for strength and resonance control. The print gives us perfect repeatability; the fiberglass gives it soul.
We tuned every parameter — volume, vent damping, driver placement — around subs that favor tone over volume. The goal was never to shake mirrors, but to restore balance to the Miata’s cabin.
Every unit is carpet-wrapped, hand-finished, and built in small batches here in northern Appalachia. Designed to disappear. Engineered to be heard.
Versions
Tunnel 8 — Base
Sealed, unloaded enclosure. Designed for 8″ subs that perform well in small volumes. 3D printed and fiberglass-reinforced, carpeted, and ready for your choice of driver.
Tunnel 8 — Loaded
Factory-mounted with a finely matched 8″ driver for balanced, natural low end. Includes heat-set inserts and prewired terminal cup.
Tunnel 8 — AP Edition
Adds a removable aperiodic cartridge with both “soft” and “tight” damping options. Tuned for smoother response and extended low frequencies in the Miata cabin.
Optional Interior Vent Kit
Precision-printed cabin-side grille and mounting hardware for a clean, finished look behind the seats.
